- I disagree. First choice would be the PLA. If the screen were snowy, the
- VIC-II would be more likely, but a black screen means the sync is coming out
- and usually that means the VIC is OK. Besides, the PLA is much more often
- damaged, especially by power supplies that are running a bit too high on the
- +5VDC.

- In either case, it is probably easier and just as cheap to find a working used
- replacement than to fix the bad one, unless you happen to already have a parts
- machine.
